Alan’s career began in law enforcement, where he served as a Washington State certified law enforcement officer and major crimes detective before being recruited in 2002 by a major risk management firm in Washington. His investigative work has spanned the local, state, and federal levels, with more than 4,000 hours of specialized training in interviews and interrogation, internal affairs, polygraph, forensic computer and document examinations, and human resources.
Since becoming a polygraph examiner in 2001, Alan has administered thousands of criminal, civil, and pre-employment polygraph examinations and has conducted countless criminal and personnel investigations—over 1,400 employment-related cases alone. His expertise, professionalism, and ethical approach have made him a trusted resource for truth verification in high-stakes situations.
Alan’s training and certifications include the Backster School of Lie Detection, Post-Conviction Sex Offender Polygraph Certification (Basic and Advanced), QVerity Interview and Elicitation, Reid Method of Interviewing and Interrogation, FBI Crime Scene Investigations, Forensic Statement Analysis, Cold Case and DNA Techniques, EnCase Computer Forensics, Forensic Document Examination, and numerous specialized courses in child abuse, homicide, and risk management.
He is a Licensed Washington State Private Investigator (License #3391) and an active member of the Scientific Association of Forensic Examiners, American Polygraph Association, National Polygraph Association, Northwest Polygraph Examiner Association, California Association of Polygraph Examiners, and the Pacific Northwest Association of Investigators. Alan is also a nationally certified polygraph examiner and published author.
